Challenge:
Czech Design Week is a major annual showcase of creativity in Prague, sought a brand identity for its 2022 edition that would set it apart from other design festivals and reflect a forward-thinking, progressive approach. They were looking for an identity that felt contemporary and elevated yet connected deeply to the roots of Czech craftsmanship. We captured this essence—creating a visual narrative that honored the basics of craft while signaling Czech Design Week as a leader in innovative design.
Our Approach:
We mirrored the techniques of traditional artisans, translating them into a digital space with a focus on 3D and simulation. Just as a craftsperson molds raw materials, we experimented with virtual "raw materials" to develop a visual identity that felt tangible and textured. This process involved emulating the look and feel of materials in their purest forms and exploring digital textures and shapes that conveyed an organic quality. By simulating the handmade process, we aimed to create an identity that bridged the tactile world of craft with the boundless potential of virtual design, capturing the essence of Czech Design Week as both innovative and grounded in craftsmanship.
Results & Impact:
The “From Nothing, To Something” identity succeeded in establishing the event with a distinguished look that celebrated the roots of craftsmanship and forward-thinking design. It encouraged viewers to value the essence of craft in a digitally influenced context, leaving a lasting impact and inspiring creators to reimagine the path from raw material to refined work.
